Junior Teams

In 2016 the Management Committee took the decision to appoint a Director of Junior Cricket to oversee this section, to boost numbers of aspiring youngsters and to liaise with local schools. The result has been a dramatic increase in youngsters attending the training sessions and getting involved with cricket. There are several competitions available to all young people from the Under 10s soft ball to the Under 19s T20 competition and all age groups in between. Adam Campion became the first Director of Junior Cricket.

2020 The year of Covid – 19. Very little cricket was played but we took the opportunity to plan for 2021 and especially firm up our committment to the junior section. Lisa O’Melia became the coordinator for junior cricket. From January 2023 we are delighted to welcome Sam Painter to be our Director of Junior Cricket, please direct any queries to him on email: sam.painter@cricketwales.org.uk or 07798 618524. We hope to have three age groups up and running by summer 2023, U11s, U13s and U15s all with appropriate coaches and helpers. For the younger ones there is an Allstars group and Dynamos group.

Women’s and Girls

We have a thriving section for the ladies. The women’s section comprising of girls 16 and over and more mature ladies wishing to play softball cricket. Thus enabling them to play the sport, keep fit and generally enjoy themselves. Younger girls have their own section and depending on the tournament entered play in teams of 6 or 8. We play against clubs in North Wales and also in the Liverpool and District Cricket League. In 2022 our ladies won the All Wales 100 ball plate and also were winners of the Cricket Wales North Wales Softball League. They were recognised at the annual Sport Conwy Awards with the Senior team trophy.

Further information available from Julie Russell, captain, via the club.

Mixed Ability

The ethos of Colwyn Bay CC MACs is fun and personal development through cricket and focuses not just on technical aspects of the game but perhaps more importantly, the social side. Training takes place on Fridays throughout the year at Ysgol John Bright in Llandudno, Ysgol Creuddyn in Penrhyn Bay and Prestatyn Leisure Centre.  From the second week in April, outdoors at the club.

New for 2022 is the start up of the North Wales MACs Super 9s hub to be based at Colwyn Bay Cricket Club. This is an ECB/Cricket Wales initiative and means our MACs along with other groups in North Wales will play interleague matches against such opponents as Shropshire, Cheshire, Lancashire and others.  In the first season with the Super 9s the MACs were regional runners up in this Northern league.

The section is managed and coached by Graeme Winterburn who is a Level 2 coach.
